deb-src http://mirror.ubuntulinux.nl edgy-seveas all
- Dapper Drake:
- Update list of repositories:
sudo apt-get update
- Install the package:
sudo apt-get install w32codecs
- Open your files and watch :)

hi...i am using ubuntu 9.10. I installed w32codecs and no error appeared during installation. But still I am unable to open wmv file. How to open them? which media player to be used??
try Mplayer. just installed it and followed the instructions on this page.

Nice post. alternatively, you can download moboplayer, a freeware app, to play wmv files.
